Laurence Fishburne to Voice Silver Surfer

“Matrix“ star will not be voice of Galactus as rumored.
Laurence Fishburne, of Matrix trilogy fame, is signed on for the Fantastic Four sequel, Rise of the Silver Surfer. But he will not be playing the villain, as was previously rumored. Speculation was that Fishburne would lend his deep baritone to the role of Galactus, the world-devouring villain featured in the second installment of Fantastic Four. Instead, Fishburne is set to give voice to the Silver Surfer himself. The Surfer was played in production by actor Doug Jones, but now, only his animated-over physical likeness will be part of the final version.
As for Galactus, not much is known, not even by filmmakers, apparently. According to reports, the villain might only appear as an “intergalactic storm cloud.” And Variety has said that the studio is not entirely sure that Galactus will even have a voice.
Fishburne will be joining a cast which includes Jessica Alba (The Invisible Woman), Chris Evans (The Human Torch), Ioan Gruffudd (Mr. Fantastic), and Michael Chiklis (The Thing). The film is directed by Tim Story and is set for release on June 15.
