Matthew Fox to Star in Speed Racer

The “Lost“ star will play Speed’s rival in the Warner Bros. flick.
Lost star Matthew Fox is in the final negotiations to play Racer X in Speed Racer, which is directed and written by Larry and Andy Wachowski for Warner Bros.
Australian actor Kick Gurry has also been recruited to play Sparky, Speed’s hippie mechanic. Emile Hirsch, Christina Ricci, John Goodman and Susan Sarandon are already set to star in the live-action film.
Speed Racer, which is based on the 1960s anime series created by Tatsuo Yoshida, is about Speed’s (Hirsch) quest for glory in his gadget-laden Mach 5. Fox’s character is Speed’s racing rival.
Filming will begin this summer in Berlin with the aim for a summer 2008 release.
In addition to Speed Racer, Fox recently starred in We Are Marshall and is set to appear in Colombia Pictures’ Vantage Point.
