Regis Returns to “Live with Regis and Kelly“ Thursday

Talk show host will be greeted by “Late Show“ host David Letterman.
Regis will be welcomed back to his talk show by none other than late-night funny man David Letterman. The news was announced by Regis’s co-host, Kelly Ripa, this morning on Live with Regis and Kelly. Regis’s return is set for Thursday this week, six weeks after his triple bypass surgery.
This wouldn’t be the first time that the two have come together over health problems. In 2000, when Letterman announced his own heart trouble, his guest was none other than Philbin. And five weeks later, after Letterman had recuperated from quintuple bypass surgery, Philbin was again the premiere guest. “The Reej” has also filled in for the Late Show host during Letterman’s bout with shingles. So now, it seems only fitting that Letterman should return the favor. The pair have also had the same surgeon working on them, Dr. O. Wayne Isom, a Weill Cornell Medical Center specialist. He performed Letterman’s bypass and also worked on Philbin for his March 14 surgery.
In Regis’s absence, Live with Regis and Kelly has seen such guest hosts as Neil Patrick Harris, Martin Short, Howie Mandel, Pat Sajak, Damien Fahey, Donald Trump, Anderson Cooper, and Jeff Probst.
