Conan Keeping Things Fresh on “Late Night“
30-Apr-2007
Written by: Jess Boettger
“Late Night“ host likes to change things up.
Conan O’Brien is taking Late Night back to the Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco, starting Monday. The comedic talk show host has made a habit of changing things up. In almost 14 years of hosting, the New York-based Late Night With Conan O’Brien has been in Chicago, Toronto, Los Angeles, and even Finland. O’Brien, 44, said that moving around gives people who’ve never had a chance before, an opportunity to come to the show. During its stint in San Francisco, the guest line-up will include Robin Williams, George Lucas, Tom Waits, and Will Arnett. O’Brien says that he’s always asking himself, “How can we change it up and test ourselves and try something completely new that we’ve never tried before?” And his experiments are not only with road trips. The talk show host has also done claymation, with everyone on the show appearing as skeletons—this was for Halloween, by the way. And a recent show actually evolved into an animated superhero action comic.
Conan O’Brien is slated to take the reins of Jay Leno’s Tonight Show in 2009.
