Walls-Crawler Smashes All Records

Spider-Man 3 beats all previous box-office records in its opening weekend.
The new web-spinner movie grossed $148 million in its opening weekend, beating the previous record of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, which earned $135.6 million during its first three days.
Spider-Man 3 already had the biggest opening day record of $59 million on Friday and also opened in more theaters than any other previous movie, with 4,252 screens in North America. The worldwide gross reached $375 million so far.
The question is, will the spider be able to keep up? With the third adventure of Shrek opening in about two weeks and the next part of the Pirates of the Caribbean sailing to the screen on May 25, will Spider-Man stay on top?
It would be surprising if another movie this year topped it," says Brandon Gray, publisher and president of boxofficemojo.com, especially because it’s been three years since Spidey’s previous movie.
Even so, Shrek’s creators are confident, "I think Spider-Man's numbers are great news for us," said Shrek the Third producer, Aron Warner. "It means people really want to go to movies and be entertained. I think we'll more than survive. I think we're going to thrive."
The viewers can’t wait to find out.
