Ty Pennington Arrested For DUI
Extreme Makeover: Home Edition's carpenter and host, Ty Pennington, was arrested at approximately 12:15 a.m. on Saturday by the Los Angeles Police Department and charged with driving under the influence. He was released from jail about two hours later after posting a $5,000 bail. A court hearing is scheduled for June 4.
"I made an error in judgment. We all make mistakes, however this is about accountability," Pennington, 42, said in a statement. "Under no circumstances should anyone consume alcohol while driving. I could have jeopardized the lives of others and I am grateful there was no accident or harm done to anyone. This was my wake-up call.
"I also want to apologize to my fans, ABC Television and my design team for my lapse in judgment and the embarrassment I have caused."
Pennington originally appeared on the TLC network on Trading Spaces, before moving up to Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. He has won two Emmys for his work on the show and has penned a best-selling home improvement book.
