Evanescence lost two members but Amy Lee says no shows will be canceled
Drummer Rocky Gray and guitarist John LeCompt of Evanescence have announced that they have left the band, each citing different reasons.
LeCompt said in a MySpace blog that he was fired by a cell phone call with Evanescence vocalist Amy Lee. Gray said on his own blog that he was not allowed by speak about leaving the band due to a gag order imposed by the band’s management in his contract. Lee offers a sunnier take on the split:
“Evanescence is alive and well. John and Rocky were in Evanescence for four years and we shared some great times together playing live, but they were ready to move on and so we have parted ways,” she said on the band’s website. She also said that no shows will be canceled on their current tour.
Evanescence is scheduled to play for the Rock on the Range hard rock festival in Colombus, Ohio on May 19 and are co-headlining this summer’s Family Values tour.
