Rodriguez May Direct “Jetsons” Movie
9-May-2007
Written by: Edward Olivier
Grindhouse co-director is in talks with Warner Bros.
Robert Rodriguez may direct a live-action version of the popular 1960 Hanna-Barbera cartoon, The Jetsons, for Warner Bros.
From the past in the box-office failure, Grindhouse, to the future in Jetsons, Robert Rodriguez also met with Will Ferrell and Universal executives to offer his director skills in Land of the Lost, based on the 1970 fantasy TV series of Sid and Marty Krofft, in which Ferrell would star.
No official offers have been made, but before Rodriguez signs his next project, the studio has to handle his guild situation. Rodriguez left the union in March 2004 when the DGA refused his request to share the director’s credit with Frank Miller in Sin City.
Rodriguez was recently on screens directing the Planet Terror segment of Grindhouse with Quentin Tarantino. The movie earned the disappointing amount of $24 million at the domestic box office in North America.
