Depp Not Ruling Out a Fourth “Pirates“

The third movie opens on the 25th, but it might not end there.
If you are awaiting Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End with excitement, but hate to see the series end, don’t give up hope just yet. Johnny Depp is now saying that he’d be open to a fourth movie. “As long as you’re doing it for the right reasons, why not?” he told Entertainment Weekly. The phenomenally successful series has already grossed over $1.7 billion worldwide. Depp’s role as Captain Jack Sparrow is one of the series’ biggest pulls for audiences. Depp’s slightly mad, but brilliant, Sparrow is based on rocker Keith Richards, Depp has said in the past. It is only fitting, then, that the Rolling Stones guitarist would play Sparrow’s father in At World’s End.
The movie opens in New Zealand on May 24. Anticipation is running high, but the stars are mum on the movie’s plot. When questioned, star Orlando Bloom (Will Turner) responded, “Dude, the writers can’t even explain the third movie.” The second installment in the series, Dead Man’s Chest, took some criticism for too many plot twists, and it’s a pretty safe bet that the third will take the convoluted plot to new heights. But Depp doesn’t consider that to be a bad thing, even if the critics have some harsh words for the film.
Watch for the U.S. opening of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End on May 25.
