NBC’s New Lineup
14-May-2007
Written by: Courtney Thompson
Law and Order will return among others to NBC.
“Law & Order” will return to NBC for its 18th season with spinoff “Criminal Intent” being adopted by the USA Network. Repeats of CI will play on NBC as well.
However, both shows are having their budgets cut significantly. But NBC Universal chief Jeff Zucker assures audiences that the show won’t suffer. “The changes will not be visible” to viewers, he said.
As far as other series, NBC will take the more dramatic route, with only one comedy among 5 dramas. Some will be shown midseason like veteran “Scrubs.” “Medium” and “Friday Night Lights” are also due to return but “Crossing Jordan” is gone. A new hit being introduced is “Heroes.” The midseason comedy will be “The IT Crowd” about a company’s computer-support team. NBC is also planning reality TV shows, of course, like “Great American Singing Bee,” a game show where contestants fill in the blanks of missing lyrics.
Newcomers vying for a rebound are as follows: “Life,” “The Bionic Jungle,” “Chuck,” “Journeyman” and “Lipstick Jungle.”
