Spider-Man 3 Still Number 1
14-May-2007
Written by: Courtney Thompson
Spider-Man 3 was number 1 at the box office for its second week.
Spider-man’s web proved to have a strong hold as the third film in the superhero trilogy held strong at number 1 at the box office, selling $145.5 million worth of tickets, according to Columbia Pictures.
The profits were split between $60 million in North America and $85.5 million internationally. Spider-man 3 has made $622 thus far. After two weeks, told $242.1 million in the U.S. while 2004's Spider-man 2 made $256 million after10 days and the first Spider-man made $223 million. Despite the drop, a fourth Spider-man is in the early stages of development.
28 Weeks Later’s $10 million matches its 2003 predecessor 28 Days Later, which opened in 1000 fewer theaters. Lindsay Lohan’s Georgia Rule is also slipping. This one seemed to be doomed from the start as producer James G. Robinson, wrote the actress a letter calling her “irresponsible and unprofessional” after she showed up late several times.
Spider-Man 3 is likely to slip in the next few weeks as box office big shots Shrek the Third will open next week and Pirates of the Carribean: At World’s End the week after that.
