Smashing Pumpkins to Play the Fillmore
14-May-2007
Written by: Courtney Thompson
The band will play a residency at the venue.
The Smashing Pumpkins will play an eight show residency at the Fillmore between July 22 and Aug. 1. But only frontman Billy Corgan and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin will be there, original guitarist James Iha and bassist D’Arcy Wretzky have opted out.
The 1990s rock staple has not played the Fillmore since April 1994, when they played at the re-opening of the venue. The Pumpkins promise to play their early '90s hits as well as songs from their comeback album, Zeitgeist, out July 10.
To spice things up, they will play rarities and even songs that are written the night of the show.
Tickets for all shows will go on sale on May 20 at 10 a.m. They will be $25 a piece and will only be available at online outlets. Concert goers will only be able to pick up tickets at the venue with photo ID.
