Chesney Named Entertainer of the Year
Kenny Chesney was awarded the trophy Tuesday.
Kenny Chesney was named entertainer of the year for the third year in a row Tuesday by the Academy of Country Music, reports the Associated Press.
The Academy also recognized country singers new and old. George Strait, Carrie Underwood and Brooks & Dunn were among those honored. Brooks & Dunn were also awarded their 14th vocal duo award.
2005 "Idol" winner Underwood won album of the year for her first CD, "Some Hearts."
Along with Chesney, Strait, Brooks & Dunn, Rascal Flatts and Tim McGraw were all nominated for entertainer of the year.
Performers included Martina McBride, Josh Turner, Toby Keith, Sugarland and Brad Paisley.
