Micro Research Institute/Magix
Written by: Michael Mardings
Between Micro Research Institute and Magix, you can have nearly all of your video and photo needs. They can do things with photos
and videos, that you really need and had no idea you needed.
The first program I checked out was 3D-Album. It's a bit odd at first but
then when you get into it, you start making these email attachments which
are sure to annoy and/or thrill your friends. The annoy part is only
towards those people who get too many attachments without asking. As for
the thrill, it can make very cool effects, very simply. It's literally a
matter of dragging and dropping and you're all set. Within about 10
minutes, I had this little Christmas tree shot, where it focused on each
ornament which had a picture of my choice.
The second program was, Magix Photostory 2004. The most amazing thing
about this program is that it easily burns VCDs easier than I could have
ever imagined. For those of you who don't know, a VCD is a CD which plays
on DVD players. The quality is worse, but it's much easier to burn a CD,
than it is to buy a more expensive DVD burner.
Anyway, you start off with a timescale and you can drag and drop your
pictures or MPEGs. Then you can drag and drop a song to go along with the
pictures. You can choose the transition effects and text and you're set.
It took me literally 20 minutes of editing and 20 minutes of burning, but I
put my friend's wedding photos on a VCD in no time.
Very cool stuff indeed.
