Soda-Club Soda Maker
Written by: Michael Mardings

Is it a gimmick or does it have a real value?

Soda-Club Soda Maker

It's one of those devices that when you see it, you think, "Oh it's a cute present, but who will really use it?" I mean, make your own soda? What the hell is the point? That's, of course, what some people initially think. Cute, but functionless.

Those people are wrong.

There are two main benefits to making your own soda with the Soda-Club Soda maker. Reason one is price; it's cheaper. If you're making straight seltzer, it comes out to 16-20 cents depending on how you calculating the shipping costs. If you're making soda, it comes out to roughly double. The other major cost benefit is that nothing will really go flat. Okay, if you make some soda and don't touch it for months it will become flat, but the idea is to make it "on demand" as opposed to opening a 2-liter bottle and having some go to waste. In this case, you're making one liter of soda at a time; when you want it. If you have a large party, you can essentially make any flavor of soda within only a few minutes.

Benefit number two is the health aspects. It contains less than 2/3 of the sugar, carbohydrates and other bad stuff with which most people are completely obsessed, lately. The taste is nearly the same as commerical soda and, in some cases, even better. Since you regulate the carbon dioxide and syrup, you can make it as strong or as light or bubbly as your tastes dictate. In addition, we made our soda with filtered water instead of tap water so we knew the water was as healthy as possible.

Overall, it might first come across as gimmicky, but soon it will become a necessary part of your drinking existence!
