Wahl meets Metrosexuals
Written by: Michael Mardings

Wahl takes on the metrosexual revolution head on.

The only men that I know who groom themselves to the level of Metrosexual are the FAB five. Outside of that, I don't know many colleagues who wouldn't question my manliness if I said I groomed. In fact, if you say "grooming" to a man, it simply implies a man about to be married.

That said, the entire grooming world has now seemed to have brought out the big guns. Wahl was known to me simply as the beard people who had Al from Home Improvement as their sponsor. Their demographics came across as men who worked in lumber yards, garbage dumps, pool halls or any other manly job.

They've now come out with a "Personal Trimmer". Notice the quotes? It's because it's a euphemism. It's really an ear and nose hair trimmer, but you can't just go out and say that to a man. You can jab this pen-like device in any orifice you'd like and just go cleaning. It's battery operated so you can even clean those pesky nose hairs right in the construction yard.

The Trim'n Vac does what my fiancé would kill for. It simply sucks up the hairs while you shave. I personally prefer to shake the hairs into the sink, but this is the metrosexual revolution and such things are taboo.

What makes this most interesting, though, is the fact that Wahl is making this. The most manly of beard trimmers has now reached the point where society is pushing them from both ends. To shave was once deemed something that a man just had to do. Now Wahl is saying it's time to clean yourself up and when Wahl says it is time for men to groom, it's about the same as a lumberjack saying it's time to wear a tux. Men listen to men.
