Motorola SURFboard® Wireless Cable Modem Gateway
Written by: Michael Mardings
Stupidly simple and gets the job done
Okay, we reviewed a Motorola Gateway in the past, and the pros did outweigh the cons. However, the cons remained. Now they've removed nearly almost all the disadvantages with the Motorola SURFboard® Wireless Cable Modem Gateway.
The original Gateway basically helped with the wireless features, but customers still needed a modem to connect a computer via a LAN line.
The SURFboard Wireless Cable Modem Gateway is long because while doesn't look like it, it does a lot. Confusing isn't it?
It has a LAN port in the back to connect one hard-wired computer directly or a series of computers via a router. The wireless feature and the modem feature go to work immediately, and since it's 802.11g, it's five times faster than regular modems. It also has a built in firewall, but really, it's stupidly simple.
So in summary, the Motorola SURFboard is stupidly simple and gets the job done quite easily.
