Camping Cool with Brunton
Written by: Donald A. Miserandino
What's the weather and how can you eat?
After having fun with the Atlas GPS, I thought I would look further into world of Brunton and see just what those
camping gnomes have been up to. It seems that not only do they have practical camping stuff like a lightweight, foldable Butane canister stove, or valve adaptors, but they
really have a fetish with being extremely cool. And I like that! I only go out when I have to, like to complete some social obligation, and I want to go on each trip with something new and fabulous, and it makes the gang extremely jealous. Like the time I took out the "MY-Ti Titanium Flatware" eating kit. You know, the knife, fork and spoon that are usually too small to eat with or too large to carry on
a backpacking trip. This set would make Goldilocks proud and the bears poorer. It was just right...and flashy too, plus I added a little window sash chain for dipping in the clean-up
hot water.
Another neat item is the "Atmospheric Data Center." It has a wonderful shape and not only gives the usual time,
date and temperature but also has functions for wind speed, chronograph, alarm and race timer. Listen, I know that on the typical camping trip we really don't have a need for a race timer or even want to know how fast the wind is traveling, but in the pursuit of coolness no stone can be left unturned. To a parent with teenagers, it is worth a million bucks to be able to shout, "Its getting cold, put on
a jacket!" and be able to prove it.
