Aerobed Sleep Away Bed
Written by: Michael Mardings
Traveling with the kids.
Aerobeds seem to have caught on a bit like Xerox machines. Eventually they've become a noun meant to describe and similar product too. Now Aerobed is upping the ante.
They've released a new line of Aerobed's, one of which is designed specifically for children. The Sleep Away Bed is similar to the standard Aerobed's, but with one major difference. The sides of this bed are raised above the edges. Of course this is to prevent the kids from rolling off. We found that they were high enough to prevent the kids from coming off, but really the kids should be a bit older than 3 years old like they say. Otherwise they should be in a playpen.
It was actually strong enough to support my weight even when I stood right on it. Although I would never recommend standing on it, I really wanted to give it a good testing. I didn't use it as a trampoline but it was able to handle me walking over it. It set up and broke down pretty quickly too.
Overall, I saw no disadvantages except for the size in that the child would really need to be well under five feet tall for it to work, so it's really only for kids who are from 3 years old to maybe the pre-teens. After that they're already lying on the sides. At that age though, they really don't need the puffed up sides.
