DXG Digital Camera DXG-308U
Written by: Michael Mardings
A good camera that can handle the beach, the ocean and anywhere else... that won't get you upset if it gets damaged.
The camera says it's a 3-megapixel camera but it also readily admits that it's affordable. In fact, at $139.00 it's pretty much cheaper than anything comparable in the market. This can be good and bad, but it depends on your perspective.
Basically, if you're looking to take art photography or try to beat Ansel Adams' best work, this is not for you. Then again, the manufacturer readily admits that.
However if you're the type that has a camera like that already, and you want to go to the beach, snorkeling or anything that might damage your camera, this is for you. Yes, you can buy a secure super case for your regular high-end camera, but the cases for those things actually surpasses the cost of this camera.
I looked up the case for our office Nikon 5700 and it was more than $700 on Amazon. For other cameras, they were more than $200-$300.
The DXG-308U is a good, affordable camera that you can take out on the beach. Mind you, the quality was actually a bit less than our old Nikon 3-megapixel cameras used to do, but this isn't a Nikon. Between the choice of taking out the $1,000 office camera with the $500 housing, or buying this camera at $139.00 with the housing, I'll take this. If it breaks, I'm not upset or getting fired. And it will take some good snapshots underwater that, in our tests, printed well up to a 5x7.
