Green and white teas are all the rage lately for the health conscious. The polyphenols in both teas have been shown to lower cholesterol, reduce blood pressure and fight fatigue, in addition to other benefits that are too numerous to mention. Usually when something is good for you it doesn't taste good. We've been on a health kick lately here at TheCelebrityCafe.com, so we decided to try some of the leading teas on the market to see if we could stomach them. We were all pleasantly surprised.
I'll start with our overall favorite green tea - Pure Inventions Green Tea Extract Droppers. The Extract Droppers come in six flavors, including vanilla, raspberry, tropical, peach, coconut pineapple and original. All the flavors were true to their description. The raspberry and peach teas had full tastes and aromas. I felt like I was drinking a sweetened tea. I looked at the ingredients and there are no calories or artificial sweeteners. The extracts are sweetened with stevia and lo Han. Stevia is an herbal alternative to sugar and lo Han is a sweetener from the squash family that does not affect blood sugar. Besides tasting great, one 8 oz cup of tea has the health benefits of 15 cups of regularly brewed tea. Although one container is $24.95, it makes more than 60 servings. It actually costs much less than other teas.
There were two other green teas worth mentioning. The first is Steaz Green Tea drinks. They are organic combinations of soda and green tea. I don't think these drinks are as healthy for you in terms of the benefits of green tea, but they are delicious. Think of these as a healthy alternative to soda. They come in great flavors like root beer, key lime and cola. Steaz also makes a low carb line sugared with stevia and these also taste great.
The second tea worth mentioning is a polar opposite to Steaz. Tea's Tea is hardcore green tea. This is authentic Japanese green tea. You have to love the flavor of green tea to like these teas. I liked the more mild flavors like Pure Green and Green White. One of our staff members loved the more potent roasted varieties like the Green Hoji and Green Genmai. They also make Mugi Cha, which is a barley tea. If you like robust teas, these are the best around.
Our favorite white tea was Inko's White Tea. It is an iced white tea that comes in a variety of fruit flavors such as honeydew, peach and blueberry, as well as in its original white tea flavor. The fruit flavors have full tastes. The honeydew and blueberry tastes and aromas are very strong. Most of the tea flavors have only 7 grams of sugar, but they do not taste like they are low in sugar. The Hint O'Mint flavor has no calories at all and is extremely light and refreshing. I am a bit partial to white tea because it is a lighter tasting tea.
Last but not least in TheCelebrityCafe.com's search for the best tasting green or white tea, we came across Ticolino Tea Twirls by the Serengeti Tea Company. Ticolino Tea Twirls are perforated wands filled with premium teas that eliminate the hassle of brewing messy, loose leaves or tea bags. Each wand makes two cups of full-bodied tea. I think it makes a great gift for tea lovers. And to answer your question... their green tea is very good!
