It turns out many people are allergic to parabens which are preservatives used in most healthcare and beauty products.
Many people prefer to buy products without parabens because they are usually natural products. Here is a review of some products we really liked.
Anakiri Skincare Products
Anakiri has developed several lines of facial products based on your skin type. The products are of the finest quality and have all natural ingredients. Each line includes several products for comprehensive skincare including Water Essence, Mineral Mist and
PhytoNutrient Serum. I sampled the soothing line and was impressed with the results in that my face had less redness and irritation.
Natracare Feminine Products
Natracare has developed organic alternatives to tampons, pads, and feminine wipes. Most sanitary products contain synthetic and plastic ingredients which can cause skin allergies, irritation, and itching. Natracare products do not contain plastics, surfactants, and fragrances. Besides being all natural they get the job done.
Dream Cosmetics Bodyology
Dream Cosmetics Bodyology 100% Natural Almond Oil and Cuticle Balm is as good as its title is long. The balm has a great almond oil scent and is lightweight as well. It does a great job at softening cuticles and is a steal at only $3. Their Ultimate Almond Lip Balm in a Tangerine Dream flavor is good enough to eat. It has no petroleum chemicals and is preserved with vitamin E. My favorite Bodyology product is their hand wipes. They are made of all natural ingredients including aloe. They come in different scents like peppermint, citrus, lavender and cinnamon.
Jane Iredale Cosmetics
I’ve tried a variety of parabens free cosmetics and I have to say the Jane Iredale products are my overall favorite. They make a variety of products including Pure Moist LipColour with SPF 18, PurePressed Eye Shadow, and PureGloss for Lips and Amazing Base foundation with an SPF of 20. Not only are their products good for your skin but the makeup stays on and gives beautiful coverage. The color palette is also very flattering to many skin tones. This line is only available through spas, salons and medical offices.
Nefeli Rejuvenating Masks
Nefeli Rejuvenating Masks are paraben free, natural herbal-based products that are used in case of a skincare emergency. Within 20 minutes both these masks show visible results. The Facial Rejuvenating mask uses herbs such as ginseng root and licorice root to bring life to tired skin. The Eye Rejuvenating Mask decreases the appearance of fine lines, dark circles, eye bags and puffiness. It should be mentioned that although these products are paraben free they do contain propylene glycol.
Angelscent Body Oils
Angelscent Body Oils are basically two ingredients- fragrance oil and certified organic jojoba oil- it doesn’t get much purer than that. They come in beautifully wrapped in purple boxes and each bottle of oil is only $15 a bottle. The Angelscent Body Oil comes in 7 scents- amber, honey almond, lavender, jasmine, oceanmist, seashore and vanilla. My favorite was amber. The oil left my r skin soft but not greasy and the wonderful scent lingers for a while.
Eco Lips Lip Balm
Eco Lips Lip Balm is a petroleum and paraben free organic lip balm. Eco Lips makes a variety of lip balms including SPF 15 Mint, SPF 15 Berry, SPF 30 Sport and Eco Lips Hemp which is made with hempseed oil. Hempseed oil absorbs readily into the skin and is loaded with Omega 6 and omega 3 essential fatty acids. Besides making a great lip balm, Eco Lips is a very green company. Their Iowa plant runs on solar energy and 1% of their profit goes to environmentally focused organizations.
Bath by Bettijo’s Luxury Lip Balms
Bath by Bettijo makes a variety of all natural and handmade products for your body from foot care to lip treats. We tried one of their lip treats, their Ripened mango Luxury Lip Balm. This is the best smelling lip balm ever- we were very tempted to taste it. It basically has two ingredients, mango butter and jojoba. There is no petroleum or parabens. A little of this lip balm goes a long way. It also comes in an attractive tin.
Selona Whipped Body Butter
Selona makes a variety of body products using only natural ingredients and pure unrefined shea butter. This type of shea butter allows the body to absorb moisture from the air. Their Whipped Body Butter goes on light and is not greasy. When you apply it you have a sense that your skin breathing. I tried the Decco scent which I found very powerful but pleasant. You definitely don’t need to wear any other fragrances when you wear this.
Max Green Alchemy Scalp Rescue Styling Gel
I love the products from Max Green Alchemy. They are an up and coming company with some of the best hair care products I have ever tried. Their Scalp Rescue Styling Gel delivers a natural hold and styling power using active botanicals, pro-vitamin B5 and other nutrients. The product contains no alcohol and is wax free. My hair looked so much healthier after using this styling product. This product has 100% natural ingredients and is also approved by vegan.org.
Skyn ICELAND Solutions for Stressed Skin Glacial Face Wash
Skyn ICELAND makes a variety of products to help combat the effects of stress on our skin. Stress can trigger increases in oil production as well as itchiness and inflammation. The Glacial Face Wash is made with pure glacial water as well and a variety of minerals. It is very gentle on your skin so it is great for people with sensitive skin. I really liked the results on my skin which tends to be sensitive and gets irritated.
Joyful Heart 3 in 1 Shower Gel by Philosophy
Founded in 2002 by Mariska Hargitay, The Joyful Heart Foundation offers retreats for healing the survivors of sexual assault. It has teamed up with both philosophy.com and drugstore.com to package and distribute a 3-in1 shower gel, shampoo and bubble bath designed for relaxation. Modele Intensive Anti-Wrinkle Spot Facial
Modele’s Intensive Anti-Wrinkle Spot Facial (that is a long name) reduces wrinkle depth by up to 60% and it diminishes wrinkle size up to 30% for smoother skin. It is used as a spot treatment and it targets those areas that we all know exist but don’t want to talk about. It moisturizes your skin as an added boost. The product is not only effective but it is reasonably priced and readily available at your local drugstore.
Emani Cosmetics
Emani Cosmetics is a complete line of mineral makeup that is good for your skin. Many of their products are paraben free including their Crushed Mineral Foundation and Blush as well as their Color Dust. Emani’s Crushed Mineral Foundations only contain four ingredients and provide beautiful coverage. Along with Emani’s blushes, their face products bring radiance to your complexion, not that heavy matted makeup look. The Color Dusts is my favorite product because of their versatility. They come in a wide variety of colors including some very unique original colors. You can mix Color Dust with clear lip gloss for instant lip color.
Softsoap Skin Essentials Pure Cashmere Body Wash
Every once in a while a product comes along that might not be completely all natural but it will be missing ingredients like parabens which are usually found in its competitors. Softsoap’s new Skin Essentials Pure Cashmere Body wash is one of these products worth mentioning because it is readily available, affordably priced and feels like a million bucks. These soaps are made with cashmere extract. Did I forget they are paraben free? They make one for normal to dry skin and one for extra dry skin. These are worth trying.
