Drinks, Drinks, Drinks!
Written by: TheCelebrityCafe.com Staff
New types of drinks are always coming out because there is a demand for them.
Water with added flavors and the ever-popular water or soda specially formulated to lose weight. You also have your coffee and tea gourmet drinkers. Here a few favorite drinks we came across that we liked. Some of these should be sipped not guzzled so that the full taste rolls across the tongue before hitting the back of the throat. For a change, try a different style glass, like a highball or wine glass so you are culturally forced to drink slowly.
Celsius Soda
They bill this soda as "thermogenic" which simply means it helps you burn up calories. Now I don't have the equipment to say if it works or not but I gave it a shot and it does taste good. I had the ginger ale but the lemon-lime or cola would do the job. While there is a minimal amount of sugar and the sodium is low there are enough vitamins to fill a good-sized diet. They even put in some botanicals to make this more like sipping water. This is a drink you don't guzzle.
Stomping Grounds Lattes
Stomping Grounds Beverage Company brings to the market a latte concentrate that reduces the cost of a cup of premium coffee. Use 1/3 of a cup of concentrate, add milk of choice, heat and drink. These are simple directions for a big return on taste. Why go out and spend three or four times the cost for a cup of special coffee when all the wifi you want may be right at home. Vanilla Latte and Espresso Latte, both from Central American Arabica beans roasted in ways to bring the flavor and intensity to your home instead of sitting in a noisy coffee shop. You earned this cup.
Persnickety Tim's Coffee
We sent a team of journalists to Waco, Texas, for a travel article but they didn't stop by Tim's shop. This was an obvious oversight, but after having tasted the Irish Cream coffee, the photographer was a little aggravated that he missed a good cup of coffee (I wonder if they have bagels too). Normally I would leave the coffee bag open to tease the rest of the crew (they are coffee and tea freaks) but following the Web site advice I sealed it up right away. Tim's Blend will be opened this afternoon. One of the crew is expecting to mix it with vanilla ice cream. The Web site is quite neat, easy to read and filled with coffee varieties. I particularly liked the "fixed order" set up for the monthly delivery of fresh coffee. I've got to talk to the business manager.
4.3.2.1. Diet & Detox
4.3.2.1. Diet & Detox is an herbal solution that helps decrease fat absorption, eliminate metabolic waste and energize the body. I am in my first week of D&D and I can tell you, at the very least, I am getting properly hydrated. My lips are starting to feel smooth and not cracked. I guess I am surprised since I really didn't realized how dry I was. My energy level seems higher in the sense I feel like I am working longer at the computer without falling asleep. I don't expect I will put a new roof on the house with sudden energy, but I am more conscience of improved practical work habits just over the past week. The drink tastes quiet reminiscent of one of those imported teas. So it is unusual but not objectionable.
XanGo
This will sound strange so grab your reality and hold on. XanGo is a drink made from the fruit of an evergreen tree called "mangosteen." While it sounds like it is a tree grown in Brooklyn, it is not. Anyway, a dose a day, cold from the refrigerator, hits the back of the throat with the smack power of antioxidants. The daily dose is said to improve the quality of life. No official claims can be made but it has been used in Asia for hundreds of years to keep the people healthy and paying taxes. Xango uses the whole fruit, both the pulp and the rind, so you get the power you pay for. Also it comes in a nice red bottle.
Adagio Teas
Anteadote Bottled Teas
You can't make it better yourself! Go ahead, try it. You get the tea, you clean it, you make certain there are no bugs, dust and G-d knows what else is crawling in there, you put it into a pot, steep it and you put it in the bottle without burning your hands. Oh yeah, then suck out all the oxygen out of the bottle to prevent spoilage. Yes you can do it! But why? The Adagio family does it for you and makes it in four pure tea flavors: White, Black, Jasmine and Green. In fact, they even put it in 16.9 ounce bottles. Most other drinks are only 16 ounces so they give you a little extra. I'd buy it just for the .9 ounces because I'm cheap.
Fizzy Lizzy
All-natural sparkling fruit juice
Lizzy gives it a good shot at the bubbly juice business. The labels seem somewhat dated but the ingredients are contemporary. Up to 70 percent juice, minimal sugar and none of the polysyllabic stuff; this drink looks good on paper. The black currant was dark red in color, almost like a Chianti wine. If it wasn't for the fizz line you could probably fool a good percentage of kids. The first taste was so strong so there was no doubt as to the flavor and, most wonderful, it gave the mouth a shiver. I went with the wine theme and gave the glass a wrist roll and sure enough, the smell was still working. And so was I.
Socko Energy Drinks
Impressive! Very Impressive! Not all energy drinks are created equal. Doing a little research on the ingredients for Socko, I had to go on the Internet, through some medical sites, encyclopedias and herbal stores all of which lead to my conclusion that the can is not big enough to contain all the energy put in there. Loaded with vitamins and extracts, low sodium, substances of about a dozen names I can't pronounce, this liquid is fire. I can barely imagine what the horny goat weed extract will do, but I can certainly understand the desire. And to beat it all, the diet drink, Socko Slim, is sugar free so that cuts out all excuses. This stuff appears naturally geared for primal energy.
Bawls
Bawls claim to fame is the high levels of caffeine that its drinks contain. The Web site says 2.5 times any soft drink. I guess I could only prove that by drinking it for several days. Then it would be the caffeine or the constant peeing that was keeping me up. The energy seems to be a real perk up, especially when you pay for 10 ounces rather than the typical drink of 12. The extra money spent for less lightens my wallet. The easy to open bottle is a good idea and the deep purple color looks good in my window. The light fizz across the tongue is a wake up and a few minutes later you'll be lifting trucks and working late for milk money.
Odwalla
Don't drink plain old orange juice where profits go into some fat cat's pocket so they can drive a fancy car. Consume the drink with nutritious ingredients, Odwalla, and a social conscience for community is granted. Money isn't everything without a healthy lifestyle. Visit the Web page, learn about the company, its nutritious drinks and then take a sip. Since all that goes into the plastic recyclable bottle, you can taste the caring. I had the Pomegranate Berry with wild berry extract and what a first sip tingle! Right down to the toes. The Pomegranate Mango was an additional rush but the full Pomegranate is where the action is! Wear a wide brimmed hat and a tight belt. Adventure is at hand.
Portsmouth Tea Company
Tea is becoming quite an education for me. While the generic word refers to anything steeped in a liquid, Portsmouth seems to have taken the language of teas and expanded it to encompass the world. They have fruit teas like Apricot Peach that can be used in a sorbet to African teas that excite the soul and calm the heart. Cliff-Hanger Iced Tea, a Rooibos Blend, is a sample of the world travelers, but it doesn't stop there for they even have an Antarctica Black tea blend. Travel, drink, travel, drink, the world is in my cup. Thank God for Miami-Ice Fruit Tisane. So the US figures somewhere in this "see the world" tea party?
Tahitian Noni Juice
A dietary supplement from the Pacific island based on the Noni fruit that was first noted by Captain Cook as a Tahitian food staple. Add field research in 1955, a 1993 re-study by a food scientist and thus the ground work is laid for a nutritional drink but one with history, romance and hard work. The label is a little hard to read but the bottle is dark green and shaped to be a little reminiscent of the fruit. The first breath takes some getting used to, but the colder the better as it rolls across the tongue. Claims are made as to how great it is for overall well being but that is up to the individual.
Starbucks Coffee
It's cold baby. Damn cold! Imagine the coldest cold, where one sip could bring a brain freeze and it's only the fruit taste that brings relief: Starbucks' frappuccino juice blends. It's the mother of all wake up calls and it's all yours. You're not in Kansas Dorothy so get with the program. Refreshing isn't a word, it is a state of being! The ice and I are one. Surrounded by the red Pomegranate juice, antioxidants do your stuff. The word for tomorrow is tangerine. Bring a toothpick for the pulp and life preserver for the head.
Adina
This is new! Really, really, really new! Adina has put together a world of refreshing tastes from a refreshing world. Look at the names: Lime Mint, Spicy Ginger, Strawberry Hibiscus and Hibiscus Lemon. New names and tastes! Even the bottles are a different shape. The taste of the Hibiscus Lemon is unlike a lemon drink and I have never tasted hibiscus but together it was very, very good to me. The Jamaican Recipe for the spicy Ginger Cooler, Gin-Jah, will get you jumping if only to shake the bottle, Mon. The common rule with all the drinks is to serve them brain freezing cold. The ingredients are pronounceable and nothing is artificial. I went out with a girl like that once.
Reeds Ginger Brew
The health benefits of ginger are displayed all over the site and the soda contains a large amount of it. A healthy soda! I guess my mother would be confused, but all the basics are in the right place. Reeds makes an Original Ginger Brew with 17 grams of ginger as well as adding other natural fruits like Raspberry and Spiced Apple. They even have a ginger brew with extra (26 grams) ginger. Ginger, ginger the world is ginger, and I'm not talking about the lady on that island. While I can't offer or even hint at medicinal benefits of ginger, it certainly has peaked my interest to look and taste.
Nestea
The special tastes of the days are Sweetened Lemon Flavored Ice Tea and Peach Flavored Green Tea. While both come in diet and regular my favorite of the moment is the Diet Peach. You see I love the peach taste and, in this case, it carries the green tea right to the thirsty spot. The fact that it has 0 calories, 0 carbs, 0 protein and 0 fat makes a whole lot of nothing, but refreshment. The salt is still a double digit but not as high as some of the sodas so for that reason don't throw back too many in a day. Green Tea for health and Peach for taste... good combo. The Sweetened Lemon Flavored Ice Tea also uses the Green tea as the motivator but now the punch comes from the lemon. I say stick with the peach and drink the company dry.
Twinings Teas
Hot flash! A 300 year old tea company knows tea! Those’s right after such a long time in business, the Twinings Tea Company could make a barn fire with its laurels and stay warm for another 300 years. Instead it chooses to aggressively mix new blends of tea and venture into new markets. Their “tea drinking world” is shown on a map as dividing the globe into main two parts: purchase tea leaves and drinking tea blends. And to twist words: Mr. Twinings is a thirsty man. Thirsty for business! The selection of blends is enormous so I was quite thankful to the website selection help. Answer a few questions and the right blend is suggested. For my varied taste, it was suggested that under flavored teas the Cinnamon Apple Breakfast Black Tea would hit the spot. Staying close to the traditional blends I hesitated to taste but with a little encouragement I found my traditions changing. For a little heartier tea flavor the Indian Spiced Chai Tea was offered. It is still a black tea bas but enhanced with cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and ginger. The adventure began and I was off. Well the day went well and I found a new favorite: African Rooibos Red Tea. Not as strong as the others, I still found the flavor showed its presence in to cup and I learned a new way to drink water.
