All of the following children's products have something in common. They were all created by moms or dads who saw a need. Here are some of our favorite mother/father invented products.

Baby Bath Gate
Susan Solan, a mother of three, invented this product after her child was injured while bathing. A specific product for a specific need: keeping your baby or child away from those tempting, shiny faucets. Even while you are paying full attention, that little human being is planning their next move against your better judgment. A split second later and there's blood in the tub from a fall in the pursuit of the water spout. The baby gate goes in the tub between the baby and the faucets. It takes the attraction out of sight and access. Avoid it all. A twist to install, that's all.

Babysoy LLC
One of the cofounders of Babysoy thought that shopping for baby clothes should be more fun. Her friend approached her with soybean fiber and the rest is history. Babysoy offers clothes made out of soybean fiber. As most know, the soybean is a renewable and self sustaining product. Yes, it generally comes from the same plant as the milk in the refrigerator and the food on the table. With a mixture of 50% cotton and 50% soybean fiber, the material is warm and cuddly. The outside of the belly can be as warm as the inside. From bibs, to hats, to shirts and cute little pants, eco-baby clothes rule!

The Gigi Blanki and Toothi
Heather Gaston created one of the coolest products with practical applications. Many little babies are comforted by soft blankets, but most blankets are very large and cumbersome for travel. Besides that, they usually come in standard colors. Ms. Gaston created a miniature blanket named Blanki that is 14 by 20 inches and comes custom made from the softest and most luxurious fabrics. You can order a Blanki to coordinate with outfits! Now that's a fashionable baby.

Giggle Bug Toddler Tracker
Oh no! Where did little Susie go? She wandered off at the supermarket! Giggle Bug to the rescue! Julianne Wallace, after a couple of frightening incidents with her youngest, came up with this great concept. A cute little bug that is attached by clip to your rambunctious toddler will emit an 85 decibel beep at the touch of a button, until you reach the bug and shut it off. If the child removes the bug while beeping, the bug beeps one continuous beep. It works similarly to a cordless phone handset locator. The activating button is designed to fit on a key chain. This is not only a cool device but it might save lives. I'd like to see the look on a kidnapper's face when their victim starts beeping loudly!

The Babykeeper
Two sisters, Tonya King and Elisa Johnson, came up with this one. At first I thought this was the silliest thing I had ever seen. Then I spoke to moms of toddlers who thought this was the best invention since the wheel. It started to make sense to me. You have a small child and you need to use the bathroom. You walk into the public restroom and it is less than pleasant in appearance. What do you do with your child? He or she is too big to hold while you go and you don't want your kid touching or licking anything. This is where the Babykeeper saves the day. It can hold from 13 to 35 pounds and has pretty sturdy hooks that go over the stall door. Your child sort of hangs there in a carrier type device and can't visit other stalls or touch grossness!

The Baby Bunch
Two new parents, Bryony and Simon, created this one. They received many beautiful gifts that were just plainly packaged. Here's a gift that is almost a sin to actually use. The Baby Bunch appears like a beautiful bouquet of flowers but when you take a closer look, you realize that some of the flowers are actually baby clothes. The Bunch includes two onesies, a hat, t-shirt, bib and two pairs of socks. The clothing is artfully rolled and placed among greenery to resemble flower buds. If you get the heart to take this beautiful bouquet apart you will find that the clothes are 100% cotton and very soft. I think this makes a great gift for a baby shower or new mom.

Flavorit Flavoring System
Kenny Kramm's daughter needed to take medication, which tasted awful, four times a day, due to a seizure disorder. She sometimes would end up in the emergency room because she wasn't taking her medication. This led to another great invention.

Flavorx has been making 42 different flavors for pharmacies to use to make medicine more appealing. They finally made an at-home system that can change the taste of any medicinal liquid or, what the heck, any liquid at all. It comes in four flavors- grape, orange, watermelon, and bubblegum. The flavors are sugar and dye free and you only need a few drops to do the trick. Be careful - your kids might want to overdose!

Dwink Box
Yet again another great idea created by a mom - Yvonne Huang. The Dwink Box holds all sizes of juice boxes as well as soy milk boxes so that little ones can't squeeze the heck out of it and create their own personal fountain. To help in the cleanliness, the Dwink Box also has a non-skid bottom. Besides being neater, it also has two handles which makes it easier to hold. It comes in four great colors - purple, blue, orange, and pink with "dwink" stamped across the front - very cute.

Floor Nanny
New moms and friends, Annetta Bartle and Heidi Cox, needed a safe, portable place for their newborn daughters. The Floor Nanny is an incredibly large, about a yard by a yard square, floor pillow for your little one. It is basically designed as a flat square pillow, surrounded by a bumper. The Floor Nanny grows with your child in that a newborn can be placed in it as well as a toddler. If you're a parent, you know the importance of tummy time and the Floor Nanny facilitates this very easily. Children can be propped over the side to give them extra support and comfort during tummy time. Toddlers can use it as a great place to lounge out. The Floor Nanny also comes in a variety of cute fabric choices to match your little one's décor.

Cold Seat
Shari L. Griffin wanted to find a solution for keeping her baby comfortable in warm weather. The Cold Seat keeps your baby cool on those really hot days. Car seats can really make a child warm which might be a good thing in the winter, but in the summer it is very uncomfortable. Besides the car seat being warm, cars can get extremely hot as well. The Cold Seat is basically one large ice pack that is designed to fit on any car seat. You freeze it overnight and then carry it along with you. When entering your warm vehicle, simply unroll it and place it on your car seat to cool it down - don't forget those metal buckles- those can burn! Once the seat is cool, remove the Cold Seat, and place baby in cool car seat.

Weather Pup
Mother of four, Tiffany thought up this great concept. The Weather Pup was created to protect an infant from sun, wind, rain and snow. It easily straps on to an infant carrier. The blanket stays draped over the car seat so it is not a suffocation hazard. The Weather Pup also doubles as a hands free nursing shawl. I found the Weather Pup to be great because it completely blocks out harsh elements. At the same time this is a bit of a problem if your child is awake and wants to see what is going on.
