Verdina Fashion
Written by: Jessica Boettger
Verdina is changing the look of women's golf apparel.
The young company bills itself as a unique line of ladies golf wear. Their goal is to blend modern fashion, with the functionality that sports apparel demands, into a line for women golfers ranging from professional to "never swung a club." Verdina uses contemporary and complex color schemes to complement the modern woman's lifestyle.
Verdina has caught the eye of the golf world, impressing everyone with their classic and sophisticated styles. The young company is rapidly earning respect in the fashion world for its versatile and stylish designs, as well as the strides it has made toward creating golf-wear that actually looks attractive.
Original and creative is the theme for their latest collection, Fall Transition 2007. The new line, conceived by top execs in the fashion industry, was unveiled at the PGA Merchandise Trade Show, held in Orlando, Florida, and will launch in June.
Verdina's goal with their latest line is to make each and every customer feel appreciated, and of course, to enhance hanger appeal. To that end, designers have incorporated small details into their products, like stitching short and sweet inspirational messages onto contrasting sating ribbon-lined collars and men's tailored interior waistbands. The message to women says, "Look Fabulous, Be Unbeatable, Wear Verdina." These feel-good messages are intended to boost confidence in both the woman and her game.
Verdina strives for designs that do not limit movement, but also avoid over-exposure. All of their pants feature a contoured back waistband to allow freedom of movement and dependable coverage, as well as a fashionable fit. Verdina's President, Dana Coppolino, assures customers that Verdina is dedicated to bringing women the most fashionable, functional, and well-fitted golf apparel possible.
The designs feature clean, classic lines and soft colors. Tops, such as the keyhole sleeve polo, come in understated but pleasing shades like Mineral Green and Port, and contrast with a classic white color and faux pearl buttons. Small details like a keyhole on the sleeve hems complete the look. This fashion-forward company has also capitalized on a popular new trend: gauchos. Verdina offers plaid gauchos in light and dark colors, with cuffs and detailed styling on the pockets and waist. Women short and tall will find a flattering fit in this design.
In addition to traditional tops and bottoms, Verdina has come out with a number of golf dress designs, including the floral wrap dress, which was featured on Golf for Women's 2007 "Hot List." The dress comes in both Mint Green and Ashley Blue shades, and features a V-neck collar and adjustable sleeves.
Though it is a young company, having only launched a year ago, Verdina has already made a name for itself. With a fashion show on WNBC-TV with LPGA pro players Krista Dunton, Andia Winslow, Cheryl Anderson, and Tracy Hanson, as well as a partnership with the Val Skinner Foundation to combat breast cancer, the young company has already made great strides. And what's more, Verdina has dressed the Manhattan Golf Classic's Street Team and have bragging rights for their signature golf dress being named to the Golf For Women's "Hot List." This year, LPGA pro Jenna Daniels has signed on to wear Verdina's line of golf apparel exclusively for the 2007-2008 golf season.
Verdina, which means "little green" in Italian, is also expanding, having already tripled its account base since its launch in January of last year. It has expanded throughout the USA, and begun filtering into the global market, including The Ocean Club in the Bahamas.
