Actor Columbus Short, most known for his lead role in Stomp the Yard is back with two new films coming out in April: the American version of Death at a Funeral and The Losers.
Death at a Funeral is a remake of the 2007 British comedy. Short appears in this film with Chris Rock, Tracy Morgan, Martin Lawrence, Danny Glover and Luke Wilson.
“It’s exactly the same as the British movie,” said Short. “It’s a comedy about a funeral. All these zany events happen in one day.”
Short plays Jeff, a medical student who goes to the funeral with a prescription drug that his sister’s boyfriend takes. From that, crazier events occur, even when it seems like everything wrong had already happened.
“The British version was hilarious,” said Short. “It was smart and witty and I wanted to work with the cast.”
Short said the cast he worked with was so much fun, crazy, and hilarious, it kept the day interesting and alive.
Although Short is looking forward to the opening of Death at a Funeral on April 15, he is also looking forward to the opening of his other film coming out in April, The Losers.
An adaptation of a DC comic, The Losers is about an elite United States Special Air Force team that was sent to the Bolivian jungle where they find themselves the target of a powerful enemy known as “Max.” The group, who ends up being believed to be dead, makes plans to get revenge on “Max.”
“It’s action, action, action, and comedy. Shoot ‘em up, bad boys, very, very funny,” said Short. The film comes out April 23.
While he works on the upcoming releases of these two comedies, Short also finished up work on Stomp the Yard 2, in which he served as executive producer. He was excited to work on this film not only to keep the title going, and give creative ideas, but to give some other unknown actor the opportunity he had.
