Carter, Aaron - pre-teen singing pop-star

By: Dominick A. Miserandino

Aaron talks about his newest album, why he tries making his music a good influence, and hopefully getting his musical career as high as he can get it.

DM) What has been going on lately in your career?

AC) Right now, we're working at my home studio on the newest album. We've gotten three songs that we're sure of. We've got one called, "The Peace Song", which is me explaining about the world ... all the shootings and stuff, and why there's no need for that ... me explaining about that. Then there's, "All I do is think about you." It's more of an R&B rock song. It's kinda like an old school song ... like, "Come and get it," but more R&B.

DM) What is your songwriting process?

AC) We usually lay down some tracks on the music, and then we go into the studio and do whatever fits best. It's all about finding the right piece for the puzzle.

DM) Who do you consider some of your biggest influences?

AC) Right now, the biggest influence on me and my singing career is Steve Perry, of course. I love Journey... plus I love listening to Survivor.

DM) But your style seems to differ a bit from your influences...

AC) Well, my fan base is into a different thing. I love rock too, but that's what I'm aiming for, because everybody's music sounds the same, so I have to come up with my own style.

DM) When did you first decide that this was what you wanted to do?

AC) Honestly, to tell you the truth, from about seven or eight years old. I always knew that I wanted to do music ... I was always into rock music.

DM) Will this new album be a radical departure from your past work?

AC) It's definitely going to be along the same lines, but we're just adding more flavor to it.

DM) What do you hope to do with your career in the next few years going forward?

AC) Right now, I just want to be aiming for the ceiling. Aiming for the top, I just want to be as high as I can get. I love doing it. It doesn't really matter where I am in my career, my position. For me, it's good just as long as I have my fans.

DM) Would you be disappointed if you don't reach a certain level?

AC) Not really, I'm sure a lot of people would. As long as I can go on stage in front of my audience, I'm cool. It would be a little depressing if I don't get really far, but I want to. It's all up to the fans though.

DM) Do you enjoy playing the music for your own pleasure or for the fan reaction?

AC) To tell you the truth, probably both of them, but I probably enjoy it more for the fans, because they need music. There's a lot of bad music that moms won't let them listen to. I just bring my own style of music into it.

DM) Do you try always keeping it clean?

AC) There's no point in using all of the those bad words.

DM) When do you think you developed that aspect of your personality, to not use the bad words?

AC) My fans helped developed that style. Just hearing all the screams all my life and just being around they helped me developed my personality. They helped me create who I am.

DM) Were you always that way? That you thought it be best to be a good influence with your music?

AC) Oh yeah, man, it's always good to be a good influence with your music. People follow what you do and they copy what you do. I'm always trying to influence my fans to be good people and at the same time to have fun and party.
