Sex in the City DVD: Season Six Part 2

Rent it and weep…in a good way.

It’s been months since Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, Samantha slipped from our everyday conscious, and it’s almost safe to say most television audiences have recovered from the finale of the six-season run of HBO’s “Sex in the City.” If you haven’t, you are in luck because the long-anticipated Season Six, Part 2 is now out on DVD, and it comes with plenty of goodies real Sex in the City fans shouldn’t live without.

Much like the other seasons, the Season Six Part 2 DVD offers episodes eight bittersweet episodes including the grand finale, “An American Girl in Paris (Part Une)” and “An American Girl in Paris (Part Deux).” The final episodes, regarded by many as one eight-episode finale, depicts the four New York gals growing into themselves and finding the happiness for which each has searched within themselves. Samantha battles breast cancer and finds a man who loves her “like no other man before.” Charlotte adopts a dog and gets word that her adopted child is on her way. Miranda moves to Brooklyn and finds happiness in her family and learning to let her guard down and love. And Carrie learns New York is where her heart is, following a brief stint in Paris--the so-called City of Love. One question though, how is it that Carrie Bradshaw, the Prada-toting, Chanel-wearing fashionista has never been to Paris before the “Russian” takes her there? Most die-hard fans have already seen the final season (I won’t ruin the ending for those of you who have some catching up to do), but every fan needs to check out the disc three DVD extras, including alternate endings. Though the endings were only made to fake out the press, it’s entertaining to imagine the “what ifs?” for the beloved characters, especially Carrie. The disc also includes the 2004 U.S. Comedy Arts Festival Seminar (with executive producer Michael Patrick King, Sarah Jessica Parker, and the writing team). And the real icing on the cake? More than 11 minutes of deleted scenes from seasons 2-6, highlighting some classic moments of the season.

So, if you are a Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, or Samantha (I’ve heard all of us are), go rent the final discs and weep away for something lost, but not forgotten.
