UFC 49: Unfinished Business
If you want pulse-pounding, adrenaline-pumping, man-against-man action, then the Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC) are for you. In UFC 49, you get plenty of mixed martial arts bang for your buck. An excellent technical fight prevails in the first bout from lightweights Diaz and Parysian.
In the Thompson vs. Edwards match, you get an explosive high kick that will go down in UFC history.
Light heavyweights Liddell and White go all out in a stand-up war, with Liddell showing off his amazing fists of fury and White proving how tough a competitor he is.
In the main event was the rematch from UFC 46 with Vitor Belfort vs. Randy Couture. In their last meeting, Belfort won the title when a freaky missed punch grazed Couture, cutting his eye and stopping the bout 20 seconds in.
This time in they last a full fight with one of the combatants almost completely dominating the other.
Overall, there is a good mix of submission, ground and pound and high intensity knockouts to please fans of all styles of MMA. The DVD does a great job of setting up the fights with pre-fight interviews and good commentary; plus the disc has bonus footage with post fight interviews. My only complaint is that the colorful “Cabbage” wasn’t on the show.
