Capote

Based on the book by Gerald Clark and adapted screenplay by Dan Futterman, "Capote" has hit the big screen in select theatres near you. Directed by Bennett Miller, ("The Cruise"), this dramatic film centers around author, Truman Capote, and the creation of his bestseller true-crime novel, "In Cold Blood."

In the beginning, Capote sets out to research a family homicide in a small town for his latest magazine piece. However, as he conducts an extensive interview with the killers, an obsession begins.

Played by Philip Seymour Hoffman, Capote leaves for Kansas in 1959 and gets caught up in his "prison-set" interviews with each individual killer. One in particular, Perry Smith, highlights his growing obsession as he resembles a cracked mirror that Capote looks into and sees his own fragmented, inner self.

Quoted from Truman Capote, "It is as if Perry and I grew up in the same house and he went out the back door and I went out the front." Hoffman's portrayal of Capote's inner psyche, interwoven with his impeccable resemblance in mannerisms and appearance is an Oscar nomination waiting to happen.

Spending six years writing, "In Cold Blood," Capote's deep compassion for the killers, mixed with his ability to exploit them makes this historic story a brilliant piece of art, caught on film.
