Second Best
A dark comedy about a man who always seems to come up second best in life.
Joe Pantoliano stars in this dark comedy. Set in Bergen County, New Jersey, Elliot Kelman, suit salesman and writer of a weekly newsletter on the perils of self-delusion. He relies on handouts from his ex-wife, mother, and even his gay son. He and his three friends have their comfortable runner-up world rocked when the only successful one of the bunch, Richard, comes to town on business. He makes the group realize what they don't have and even takes Elliot's new girlfriend, Carole (Jennifer Tilly). When Elliot realizes he is the biggest loser and almost loses his friends over one of his weekly newsletters, he hits rock bottom until Richard offers him a job. The sudden offer of the Hollywood life he always dreamed of makes him have an epiphany that he doesnt have it so bad.
