Sky High
Perfect movie to watch with the family or your kids.
Like a Krispy Kreme doughnut hot out of…whatever they cook them in, Sky High is light as air and just as easily consumed. Sure, it’s a kid’s movie and in its very small and narrow-minded understanding of the superhero genre; it comes off more as parody than, “one of the boys,” but it’s still an enjoyable watching experience.
The story is a simple coming of age tale of young Will Stronghold attempting to live up to his superhero parents legacy. His only set back being he has yet to manifest any super powers before the first day at the titular high school. The rest of the movie unfolds from there with all the shock and awe of a pop-up book, but one can’t begrudge a film that places Kurt Russell back in the kind of Disney movie he starred in as a young actor. Throw in a 50% Kids in the Hall reunion and the always fantastic Mr. Bruce Campbell and you’ve satiated your fanboy crowd. Sky High may leave you feeling more empty than an hour after a Chinese dinner, but you’ll enjoy it just the same.
The DVD has a blooper reel, a making of, an alternate opening and a music video “I Melt With You,” by Bowling for Soup. Despite this fact, this is the perfect movie to enjoy with your kids or family.
