Inside Man
Inside Man leaves you guessing until the very end.
This Spike Lee joint has it all: drama, mystery, crime and even comedy. It starts with a close-up shot of Dalton Russell, played by Clive Owen, telling us the five W’s.
Who: He and a group of friends. What: Set in motion the perfect bank robbery. Why: Because he can. When: Recently. Where: The bank.
He leaves out the how, which is told throughout the rest of the movie.
The robbers enter the bank dressed as painters and make their hostages inside do the same. This helps with their ultimate plan of getting out. Russell says from the beginning that he will walk out the front door. Does he make it?
Denzel Washington plays Detective Keith Frazier who comes to negotiate with Russell. Jodie Foster plays Madeline White a power broker with a hidden agenda.
While watching the plot unfold, we fast-forward and see interrogation scenes with Detective Frazier and the hostages? Or are they?
Inside Man has twists and turns that leave the viewer guessing and re-guessing throughout. It’s much more than a simply bank robbery. The humor is an added bonus to an already fun and intense movie.
