Alone With Her
In Alone With Her, newbie writer/director Eric Nicholas introduces the new and improved ways the Internet and advanced technology have granted a predator access into the life of an unsuspecting victim. The story centers on Doug (played by Colin Hanks), a chubby computer geek who casually strolls around parks in search of his "Ms. Right." With a duffel bag used to disguise his video camera, he scopes out the vicinity until SHE appears - a single, attractive woman all by her lonesome.
One afternoon, Doug spots Amy (played by Ana Claudia Talancon), a beautiful twenty-something woman sitting alone with her dog. As Doug watches her get teary-eyed when she catches a glimpse of a couple kissing from afar, he realizes that he has found his next target - a vulnerable woman who has obviously been through a recent heartbreak.
From there, this creepy, antisocial man buys the equipment necessary to become a part of her life, whether she likes it or not. He sets up shop by planting tiny cameras he purchased for sixty-something bucks at a local Radio Shack-type store in her living room, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. And from there, through Doug's point of view, we watch this woman as she showers, eats, sleeps, masturbates, talks to friends, paints, etc.... Basically, she is never alone because HE is always with her.
Alone With Her is one hell of a movie -- frighteningly insightful and full of suspense up until the very end! Forget the 1970's original, When a Stranger Calls - Nicholas' flick takes being watched to a whole new level, which I wish I could say is farfetched. However, unfortunately, this is a truthful story about what today's predators are up to - so beware.
