Ratatouille
Ratatouille is the taste of the summer
It is a popular belief that it is impossible to please people with different tastes, but "Ratatouille," a summer blockbuster, will put that belief to a test.
The new Disney Pixar animated film circles around Remy (Patton Oswalt), a French rat who has an innate talent with food yet is impeded to express it due to his origins: a rat in a human dominated society. His fate changes as he finds himself at a restaurant in Paris where he meets Linguini (Lou Romano), a clumsy young man who struggles with cooking but needs to keep his job as a cook. They team up to become not only the best friendship duo on screen since Shrek and Donkey, but also to take the French cuisine by storm and to make Gusteau’s the most talked about restaurant in the city of lights. The villains are Skinner (Ian Holm), who sees his career as Gusteau’s chef threatened by the arrival of Linguini and his mysterious new found cooking talent, and Anton Ego (Peter O’Toulle), an incredibly picky chef with the intent of ruining the restaurant’s reputation at any cost.
The 110 minutes breeze by as Remy and Linguini overcome their difficulties in the kitchen and achieve the success they both long for. Their story is told through comedy, drama and suspense, all of which are wonderfully mixed and added in the right dose to please kids and adults alike. If the script is not enough to capture each and every viewer’s attention, the technicalities of the animation are definitely bound to do so. From the colors, to the textures, to the movement of every little aspect that appears on the screen, "Ratatouille" is a showcase of all that technology can mean to the world of animated films.
Summer blockbusters tend to be shallow and entertaining yet "Ratatouille" is about to put it all in a new perspective. With a touching story, beautifully constructed animation and amusing humor, "Ratatouille" is the perfect blend of ingredients, which result in a wonderful delicacy that will appeal to all tastes. It is a rich sight to the eyes and inspiring as a whole, something that would make even the creator of the original mouse proud. "Ratatouille" is the flavor of the season and will leave audiences hungry for more!
