Crossing Delancey
"Crossing Delancey" is a sweet and good natured love story. Starring Amy Irving as Izzy and Peter Riegert as Sam, this film charts the journey the two experience in the fast-paced New York world. Izzy is a young professional who strives for the very best, including a certain author that she meets at her place of employment, a ritzy bookstore. Though a hard worker, she still finds time to spend with her beloved bubbe, or grandmother. Izzy is about 30, and her bubbe wants her to seriously consider finding a husband. Soon her grandmother enlists the local matchmaker, who searches for a quality catch: honest, hardworking, handsome and Jewish.
Along comes Sam, encouraged by the matchmaker, who immediately finds Izzy irresistible. The only apparent obstacle is that Sam is a pickle vendor. Sam is very romantic and works to sweep Izzy off her feet. Enchanted by Sam, but also questioning her own life choices, Izzy must search within herself to discover the truth of what she must do. "Crossing Delancey" is a lovely and romantic film that has definite charm and great chemistry between the leads, not to mention wonderful turns by the actors and actresses, especially by Riegert and Reizl Borzyk as Bubbie.
