StarDust
Catching the heart of a star is a very difficult task. But in the magical world of Faerie, many from witches to princes will try. StarDust is a traditional fantasy story that will entertain children and adults alike. This movie portrays an inventive fairy tale that realizes the importance of original and well developed characters. The tale is a fun chase from beginning to end.
The adventure begins when a young, and glaringly average, shop boy named Tristan (Charlie Cox) tries to win the heart of Victoria (Sienna Miller) by bringing her a fallen star. However, to get to the star, he must cross the wall into forbidden land. Another problem lies in the fact that the star is not just a piece of rock, but a woman named Yvaine (Claire Danes). However, it appears she would rather get back home than be dragged off to see Victoria. She finds there are worse things when being chased by a Witch (Michelle Pfeiffer), who wants to cut out Yvaine’s heart to restore her own youth. Tristan and Yvaine must travel through this world avoiding those that would want to harm the beautiful star.
Featured are many characters that sway from fantasy stereotypes, such as Robert DeNiro as Captian Shakespeare, the most feared sky pirate, who just happens to enjoy dressing up in women’s clothing. There are also many dark comedic parts in this film, but overall it is a light, visually stimulating ride. A fun fantasy full of humor, love, and magic.
