Last Action Hero

It's not just a movie.

Arnold Schwzaregger headlines the witty, clever and funny action-comedy "Last Action Hero." A thrill ride from start to finish, this movie charts the adventures of a high-flying, rough-and-tumble and very effective cop ... and the kid who idolizes him on the silver screen. Schwarzenegger stars as the movie icon, who refuses to believe that the strange boy who somehow ended up in the back of his moving car is really a boy from a whole different world. Austin O'Brien plays Danny, the delinquent boy who aches for adventure and lives to see his favorite movie cop's adventures, while F. Murray Abraham has a great turn as Jack Slater's (Schwarzenegger) fellow cop. Abraham has a lot of fun with his role, hamming it up, just as Danny DeVito's brief voice-cameo adds a splash of tongue-in-cheek humor to the already clever film. Throughout the movie, the question is asked again and again, why anyone should believe the boy from the real world, while simultaneously the idea of the perfect movie world is questioned, as every situation will inevitably be what you make of it.

The movie has slam-bang thrills, comedy, and still takes plenty of time to poke fun at itself and the police/action/drama themed movies it references. Overall the film is an enjoyable ride, with fun references (upon meeting F. Murray Abraham in the film world, Danny cries out "Watch it Jack, he killed Mozart!... 'Amadeus'! It won 8 Oscars!") Look for more fun movie references and cameos, such as Sharon Stone and Robert Patric. Watch this movie and be prepared to thoroughly enjoy it!
