High School Musical 2

The original "High School Musical" film has been called the "Grease" of its time, referring to the high school social clicks, romance and struggles of acceptance, while discarding images of smoking, sex and the occasional high school drop-out(what do you expect, it’s a Disney Film). This clean family movie made the impossible seem within reach, made the different seem unique and viewed life as a journey in which we are all in together. So where did the second film pick up from? Exactly where the first one left off.

The students of East High School are on summer break. However, their goal for relaxation in the sun becomes uncertain when a country club owned by Sharpay’s (Ashley Tisdale) parents hire the Wildcats as help. Troy (Zac Efron) and Gabrielle’s (Vanessa Hudgens) quest for each other soon becomes a quest of finding themselves when Sharpay decides that she wants Troy for herself and will stop at nothing in order to get him. Troy suddenly sees his life changed from ordinary to extraordinary, gaining attention from college board members and basketball players and receiving a new look. What both Troy and his friends struggle with now is whether the Wildcat just has a new look or has become a new person as well. Troy then faces the ultimate challenge, finding himself and his place in the world. And does Gabrielle have a place in it? Of course the film includes all the original members of the first film including Ryan (Lucas Grabeel), the humorous and musically talented brother of Sharpay and Chad (Corbin Bleu), Troy’s best friend and fellow basketball team member.

With its new Broadway-fashioned songs and dance routines, a heartwarming story and positive perspectives on life, "High School Musical 2" went above and beyond expectations to create a film that future generations will see and love for years to come. And with its appeal to people of all ages, it’s not hard to see why its premiere marked it the highest rated basic cable broadcast in U.S. history.
