Meet the Robinsons

“Keep Moving Forward!”

Lewis is not your average orphan. His superior genius, wacky experiments and unpredictable inventions are enough to intimidate any family wanting to adopt him. It’s also enough to drive his roommate Goob crazy. One day Lewis gets the idea for an invention that would change the rest of his life, a memory device that will show him the day he was brought to the orphanage. Lewis hopes that through this invention, he will be able to find his real mother. However, a mysterious man in a black bowler hat seeks to take this device and claim it for his own. It is only through the help of Wilbur, a 13-year-old boy from the future, that Lewis can understand the importance of his own invention and the reason for the mysterious man. It is also through Wilbur that Lewis meets the Robinsons, an eccentric family from the future that celebrates difference and failure. Lewis cannot help falling in love with them and finally thinks that he has found his place in the world. However, he soon realizes that he serves another purpose for the future, and it is one that he must travel back to the past to discover.

Disney has done it again with a story every audience member can relate to about the struggle to fit in, as well as the struggle to let the past go and keep moving forward. This movie, filled with creative colors and characters, reminds us as viewers to strive for the impossible, and that our dreams can be achieved through persistence and passion. "Meet the Robinsons" also stresses that we learn more from our failures than our successes. Mr. Robinson, the creator of future cities, has an entire room filled with nothing but failures. Only through his failures could he create successes. Lewis sees the importance of this and it fills him with hope for his own imaginative mind, as well as for the future itself. As most Disney films do, this movie will warm your heart and inspire the artist that lies within you.
