Enchanted
It's not often that a new classic just rolls along. This time around, however, Disney has done it again. "Enchanted" is a lovely tale told through both live-action and animation. Even the most cynical of characters never really gets as such, and certainly can't resist the infectious joy of Giselle, the main character in this fun fairytale.
Giselle, as voiced and portrayed by Amy Adams, is a happy young maiden in Andalasia. Giselle sings to friendly woodland creatures, while dreaming of her personal prince charming. Along comes Prince Edward, who immediately falls in love with the beautiful Giselle. However, Edward's wicked step-mother is determined not to allow the impending wedding of Edward and Giselle to take place, as such a match would deprive her of the crown.
On the day of the wedding, the evil step-mother, perfectly played by Susan Sarandon, makes sure to put a dent in the plans by bringing Giselle into a place where her dreams of marrying Edward will never materialize... New York City. In the confusion of the bright lights and anonymous faces, Giselle meets single father Robert. Robert, played by "McDreamy" Patrick Dempsey, helps her out. Robert and his young daughter are soon won over by Giselle's unflinching optimism and kindness.
Will Giselle find true love with her Edward, or the cautious and realistic Robert? A treasure of a film, "Enchanted" also boasts a lively and lovely soundtrack, with a number of highly catchy tunes. The movie is absolutely delightful, and is a pleasure for both adults and children. Do not miss this winner!
