27 Girls Approve "27 Dresses"

The premiere of 27 Dresses at a theatre on a college campus attracted just about every sorority girl on that campus, along with a few submissive boyfriends.

Thus, the theatre was filled with “Oohs” and “Aahs” as the girls watched the beautiful Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl play the part of the “ugly sister.”

Of course, 27 Dresses can be typified into the cliché “chick-flick” category, but Heigl is convincing enough as the underdog, and the audience cannot wait for her time to come with the cynical, but equally charming James Marsden.

And fortunately, for once, not all the funny parts are given away in the movie’s trailers and commercials. I won’t spoil the jokes, but I will say, the theatre was filled with as much laughter as it was tears.

It should also be pointed out, that though Heigl and Marsden steal the movie, Judy Greer, who has been seen as a supporting role in another wedding themed movie, The Wedding Planner, really shines in her most humorous role to date.

But don’t let the crowd for this particular premiere fool you. A clever, witty, and sweet feel-good movie, all women will enjoy 27 Dresses. And most likely, any supporting, male, significant other will be able to bear it, and may even find themselves laughing along with all the women in the theatre.
