Michael W. Smith - Worship
Michael W. Smith and his assembly of talented singers and musicians celebrate the joy of one's faith
I wasn't sure at first what I would be experiencing when I viewed this
concert featuring the music from Worship (a bestselling album) and Worship
Again. After watching it, I was pleasantly, happily, and inspirationally
impressed with the entertaining and positively enlightening music of
Michael W. Smith. His genuineness, soft features, and a voice blessed with
warmth and spirit places you in a comforting circle of light, love, and
unity.
The songs that left a big impact on me are: "Open the Eyes of My Heart" and
"Draw Me Close," a wonderful piece of music and, lyrically, very poetic and
beautiful to listen to. The Violin introduction to the song, "Turn Your
Eyes Upon Jesus," was an incredibly lovely sounding piece. "Above All,"
"Breathe," and "Let It Rain," were classically inspiring, very touching and
has a great power to it).
I remembered the song, "Awesome God," after hearing him one night while I
was flipping through the TV channels and a commercial for inspirational
music was being offered on a compilation CD. His voice was one that made an
impression on me while I was listening to it that night. "Step By
Step/Forever We Sing" has substance, style, and a rocking soulfulness that
just lit the stage! "I see you" is an electric song of passion, great
melody, great emotion. There was a calming and joyful presence and
appearance to the stage, including a great-looking piano, plus the audience
was very emotionally involved. Basically, I loved this concert! I wanted
to hear and see more. There's much to be desired here.
This is not a preachy, "Listen to me to save yourself" evangelistic
message. This is about a man's gifted calling and his vision of it being
told through his music with talented artists along side him. Filmed at
Skyreach Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and directed by Carl Diebold,
this is Michael W. Smith's way of connecting to his audience who feels as
he does about the closeness, power, and the beliefs that his songs instill.
