Bad Taste
The aliens have landed, and they are harvesting humans for an intergalactic food chain.
Derek (Peter Jackson) and his Astro-Investigation and Defense Service (AIDS), find the town of Kaihoro wiped out by aliens. Together with his team, Frank (Mike Minett), Ozzy (Terry Potter) and Barry( Pete O'Herne), Derek must find a way to destroy the aliens who have harvested the town in search of a new food source for their inter-galactic food chain: Crumb's Crunchy Delights.
Complicating matters is the arrival of Giles (Craig Smith), an aid worker who is collecting change from the residents and becomes captured by the aliens, and will be the main course at lunch. Can Derek and his troop defeat the aliens? Or will they be the next item on the menu.
This is Peter Jackson's first film, and took several years of working nothing but weekends to finish. It never takes itself too seriously, but still maintains the professional standards of a good film. The special effects are well done, the acting is fair without being too over the top, and the pace of the film moves at a fairly fast pace. The gore is gross at times, not overdone, and truly in bad taste. Go ahead and rent it. It's a treat for B movie lovers everywhere.
