Risky Business

A high school student faces traumatic decisions in this teen comedy.

When 17-year-old Joel (Tom Cruise) is left home alone while his parents are out of town, he discovers that freedom is a lot more risky than it looks.

After being persuaded by a friend to hire a prostitute, Lana (Rebecca De Mornay), Joel finds himself in conflict with her “pimp” boss, Guido (Joe Pantoliano).

This 1983 hit is one of the original adolescent, hormonal comedies, and has since become a classic, known as Tom Cruise’s big break.

If you wanted to know how Risky Business made Tom Cruise a box-office superstar, look no farther than his famous underwear-wearing, air-guitar-playing scene. The rest of the movie, however, lacks in the modern-day sense.

The only thing that holds this film together is, obviously, Cruise’s good looks and charm.
