Underworld

Dark movie set in the “Underworld” where there are vampires and werewolves.

The Underworld is all around us and we don’t even know it. That’s how this movie starts out, then we get a powerful introduction when the Underworld surfaces with two werewolves after Scott Speedman’s character. It’s not until later that we see why it is that they are after him.

This movie is a wonderful introduction into the dark world. Most, if not all of the scenes are shot at night where this movie mainly takes place. Every scene is lit beautifully, despite the fact that you’re literally in the dark throughout the movie.

Kate Beckinsale plays her role beautifully as the only one clued into the fact that the leader of the Lycans (werewolves) is not dead as he was supposed to have been many years ago. Her introduction of Viktor (Bill Nighy), her mentor and creator, brings in another level of amazing acting.

This film is great for those who are into dark films with werewolves, vampires, and women in tight leather. It is very well done and the lighting is just enough that you don’t feel like you have to strain to see what the characters are doing. The costume design is amazing as well.
