Burial Ground: The Nights of Terror
A group of vacationers are attacked by flesh eating zombies.
While exploring a crypt, a professor awakens the dead and is immediately attacked. The couples that he had invited to his villa, show up and are also attacked. That's it for plot. There is no explanation as to how the zombies came to life, no explanation as to why the couples were asked to come and visit, and certainly no explanation as to why these particular zombies can go from just shambling along to being able to climb walls, use tools to kill and even assemble themselves to use a battering ram to break down a door.
Coming in from Italy, it was a toss-up as to whether to classify this as a foreign or horror film. I had to go with horror based on the subject matter. But it's just a really bad film. The acting was horrible, but the makeup and special effects were even worse. The director was definitely trying to gross the audience out with his use of maggots, worms, blood and rotting flesh. But when you can actually see peoples' eyes, eyelids and mouths through the holes in the masks, it is kind of hard to watch the movie. Not every zombie is done poorly, but just enough to make you shake your head in disbelief. And just why did the son of one of the women in the film look to be the same age as his mother?
If all you are looking for is blood and gore, then you may be able to watch the film. But you will have to look past the lack of plot, the bad acting and some sorry makeup. Ask yourself if it is worth it. You have been warned.
