Cleaner
A man who cleans up crime scenes becomes entangled in a murder cover-up.
Former cop Tom Cutler (Samuel L. Jackson) now runs a business cleaning up after crime scenes. His latest job involves a murder victim, or does it? When the wife files a missing person report, and the dead person is involved in a bribery scandal involving crooked cops, Tom finds himself in the middle of a huge cover-up. Can he figure out the truth before the killers find him?
This movie had really good potential to be a great movie, considering the talent involved: Jackson, Ed Harris (Tom's former police partner), Luiz Guzman (seemingly dirty cop), and Keke Palmer as Jackson's daughter, Rose. However, Eva Mendes seems very out of place amongst these incredibly talented actors.
While the production is very well done, the plot twists and turns in so many different directions, that you soon lose interest in what is happening. In fact, for a movie that clocks in at under an hour and a half, it seems to really drag along, feeling more like two hours.
It is a movie worth seeing if you are fans of Jackson and Harris, with Guzman able to keep up with these powerhouses, but overall the movie just doesn't measure up to its true potential. And as a crime/thriller, it really doesn't carry too much tension throughout the film.
