Psych: Season 2 DVD

America’s favorite fake psychic detective is back on DVD for season two.

Psych is an hour-long comedy that focuses on Shawn Spencer (James Roday), a free-spirited detective trained in the skill of meticulous observation by his father (Corbin Bernsen) at a young age. The police believe him to be a psychic and hire him and his skeptical best friend/partner Gus (Dulé Hill) to help solve Santa Barbara cases.

The show is continuously laugh-out-loud funny, mostly in part to the likeability of the cast and obscure '80s references thrown around every five minutes. The pairing of Roday and Hill is fantastic and the “funny man/straight man” dynamic has never proven so successful. Roday is a seemingly endless joke machine and he pours every ounce of his energy into the almost overused physical comedy in the show.

This four-disc set is filled with content including all sixteen episodes from the USA hit show's second season. Feature commentary and deleted scenes along with podcast narration are also featured. But the highlight of the bonus features has to be the hilarious gag reel as well as those classic “psych out” moments, which include the actors breaking scene and going into an unrehearsed musical number.

Psych has resumed into a new third season on the USA Network airing on Fridays at 10 p.m. Eastern.
