Private Practice Season One

The first season of the Grey's Anatomy spin-off is a hit.

Addison Forbes Montgomery thought she knew her place in the world. She was a double board neonatal surgeon, married to a world renowned brain surgeon. Then, Grey's Anatomy happened. We find out that Addison slept with her husband's best friend because her husband hasn't been paying any attention to her. So, said husband ran from their life in New York to be a doctor at Seattle Grace.

Addison follows him two months later, and stirs up the new relationship her husband was cultivating with someone at the hospital. Husband and wife try to make it work, but they are too late to reclaim what they had. After more than a year in that environment, Addison decides to leave. She goes to visit an old friend in Los Angeles - much to the surprize of the old friend.

However, Naomi (the old friend) knows a good thing when she sees it, and offers Addison the OB-GYN position that just opened up at Oceanside Wellness - the co-op she runs. After spending a day with the gang, Addison thinks getting away from Seattle, her failed marriage and the best friend she cheated with (who followed her) is the best thing for her. It helps that one of the other doctors at Oceanside kissed her and listened to her.

The members of the co-op are played by some amazing people - Tim Daly, the holistic healer that kissed Addison; Amy Brenneman, the not-wholly-sane psychiatrist; Taye Diggs, the self-help guru who could use some help; Paul Adelstein, the pediatrician who never grew up; Audra McDonald, the head of the practice who can't lead; and Kate Walsh, the lost soul just looking for somewhere to fit in.

Fans of Grey's Anatomy may not find Private Practice to their liking. Fans of Tim Daly will probably enjoy it. Fans of Gilmore Girls will rejoice to see Christopher. It's one of those shows that you love or you hate. If you loved Addison on Grey's (and really she was too juicy not to), then at least give the spin off a try.
